Everyone was so confident in my ability to balance the life of a collegiate athlete with the life of a stressed out, anxiety-ridden nursing student, even when I lacked that confidence in myself. I vividly remember studying for hours in the athletic building before practices or games with my teammates always ready to help quiz me. When you’re a Baron, you really are part of one big family.

When I work in the ER doing ultrasounds, I have some very rewarding moments. For example, pediatric patients of every age come in with fear in their eyes and tears on their cheeks. I make them feel as comfortable as possible and perform their exam to the best of my ability with their parents by their side hoping for the best. When a parent and child thank me for what I do and they are both no longer as fearful, I feel as though I have done my job right.

“Nothing can diminish the sense of accomplishment and the amazing achievements of Rowan College at Burlington County’s class of 2020,” RCBC President Dr. Michael A. Cioce said. “Celebrations are important to us, our students and the network of supporters who have contributed to the educational journey, which is why we’re organizing a virtual one. While there are certainly students who will be with us via 3+1 and for additional coursework, the hard work and reward warrants a timely celebration.”

The good news is that, even if you are ineligible for a stimulus check, you have financial aid options. Governor Phil Murphy recently announced that the deadline for a renewal of state tuition aid for the 2020-2021 academic year has been extended from April 15 to June 1. This means you have more time to complete and submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

“I talked to nurses from different hospitals in the area and they all spoke so highly of nurses that came from our program, so I knew that this was exactly where I needed to be. I think the most memorable part of the program so far has been the friendships I have made,” Pacitti remarked. “The clinical experiences and each of my professors have all been incredible in their own right, but the friendships I have made in the last year or so have been absolutely indescribable. Nursing school is truly an experience you can't fully understand until you're in it, and it sounds so cliche, but these are the friendships I will keep forever.”

On Wednesday, April 15, at 1 pm, join Rowan College at Burlington County Assistant Professor of Communications and Humanities Chris Gazzara, and Adjunct English Professor Davon Loeb, for a discussion on how members of the college’s creative arts community are using this time to document their experiences in song, spoken word, video and text.
