“When you have professors who go that extra mile to help you, it makes a big difference. I did not finish high school, let alone did I even think it was possible that I’d be in college and getting As and Bs,” Ault said.
“I decided to become an alumni trustee because I love RCBC and wanted to give back. I love to be involved and believe that this will be a great opportunity to allow for the students’ voices to be heard,” Berdugo-Hernandez said. “RCBC is an incredible school, and I want to be able to help make every student have an amazing college experience just like I did. I am very honored to be a part of this and look forward to working with everyone.”
“The past few months have redefined community, and this film reminds us how important it is to stay connected in good times and challenging times,” RCBC President Dr. Michael A. Cioce said. “Tikkun Olam reflects the vibrant diversity of our community, the talents of our students, and the breadth and quality of the academic experience offered at RCBC in partnership with industry professionals and like-minded community partners.”
“RCBC staff gave me the time of day and helped me figure things out. I eventually qualified for in-state tuition and was given the support I needed to finish my degree,” Velez recalled.
“This competition means so much to me, and I’m just so excited to utilize all the resources I’ve gotten and actually make this a real thing,” future Baron Madison Helmer said.

“The training was designed not just so that you can pass the test but so that you can really understand the content. It clicked better than any other class I’ve taken. Everything we learned was revisited, and that spoke volumes to me. It wasn’t just teaching to the test; the purpose was to help everyone absorb and retain what they learned,” Amanfu said.
While the college has operated remotely, RCBC’s Student Government Association has held weekly meetings to keep the lines of communication open and to brainstorm new ways to keep students engaged and informed.
