As part of Rowan College at Burlington County’s effort to raise money to support students, the college will host a special Giving Tuesday Facebook Town Hall episode on Tuesday, December 1, at 1 p.m., to thank donors and highlight scholarship recipients.

Hear from RCBC President Dr. Michael A. Cioce and RCBC’s Foundation Chair, Karen Albanese, as they join RCBC Foundation scholarship recipients Christina House, Alexandra Pantry and current Pastry Arts student Collin Rieser, to discuss why it’s important to give back to students.

Cioce and Albanese will pledge a memorable challenge to the community if the RCBC Foundation receives a certain amount of donations during the show. Tune in to find out what they might do.

“It’s one of my core tenets that I love to give back, so I embraced the opportunity to serve as Foundation Chair at RCBC,” Albanese said. While a student at RCBC, she earned two scholarships to propel her academic career and now serves as CFO of Konrad Beverage.

Pantry, a former Electrical Engineering Technology student, earned a scholarship from the STEM Advisory Board during her last semester at RCBC. This helped her continue her education while assimilating to the professional world. She now works for Princeton University’s Plasma Physics Laboratory to help with future fusion energy technologies.

“I love working for a company that doesn’t contribute to the destruction of our planet. The Plasma Physics Lab is all about creating green energy,” Pantry shared.

Christina House, a non-traditional student and president of RCBC’s Human Services Club, earned the Human Services scholarship this semester. A mother of four (three of whom are in their teens), House started taking classes at random and ended up falling in love with them. After experimenting with different subject areas, she landed on human services. She is studying substance abuse and is prepared to begin an internship next semester at Prevention Plus.

Collin Rieser, a Pastry Arts student, comes from a long line of pastry and traditional chefs. He’s prepared to graduate this May and hopes to eventually open his own bakery.

“Since I was four or five, it’s what I’ve always wanted to do. Ultimately, I would like to have my own bakery specializing in wedding cakes,” Rieser said.

Tune in on Tuesday to hear more from these extraordinary guests and to find out what President Cioce and Karen Albanese are willing to do for your donation! Visit rcbc.edu/giving-tuesday to see how much we’ve raised so far.
