Join Rowan College at Burlington County on Wednesday, June 24, at 1 pm, as we host another Facebook Town Hall exploring the relationship between student and professor mentor. For this episode, we welcome 2020 President’s Award recipient Timothy Wilkinson and Nursing Simulation Lab Coordinator Laura Skrable.

Wilkinson, a 3+1 Nursing student, first met Skrable in a Nursing fundamentals course where she helped him build a strong foundation in many of the concepts he’s used throughout his RCBC career. Wilkinson viewed his experiences in RCBC’s high-tech Nursing simulation lab as the best “dry run” he could get in preparation for working in an actual hospital.

“The simulation lab includes technology and experiences that are very close to what we would encounter in a real hospital,” Wilkinson shared. “We use simulated patient beds, electronic health records and mannequins that mimic patient vital signs and lung sounds to practice skills we would apply to real-life situations.”

Wilkinson was among RCBC’s student volunteers who worked at the county’s coronavirus testing facility when the pandemic first hit, and he recently completed his last week there.

According to Skrable, Wilkinson set himself apart from other students due to his level of engagement in the classroom and willingness to step up and help his peers under any circumstances.

“He earned very high grades in all of his classes and was very helpful with other students during group sessions,” Skrable commented. “He treated simulations as if they were real situations and asked a lot of questions to engage the class.”

Wilkinson and Skrable look forward to discussing their experiences and answering your questions in real-time during Wednesday’s town hall. To learn more about RCBC’s 3+1 Nursing program, visit rcbc.edu/3plus1/nursing.
