RCBC Global Film Series: Balzac and the Little Seamstress
April 22, 2021 from 5 to 7 pm
Virtual/Online

The RCBC Global Film Series showcases recent award-winning films, produced in foreign languages from various locations across the world, and that focus on a social, political, and/or economic problem of national or international scope. The particular movie for this event is “Balzac and the Little Seamstress”, a Chinese language production from 2002 that illustrates how individuals and youth found passion and intellectual freedom during the Cultural Revolution in China through the mid-twentieth century.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, this event will be held virtually by clicking here. Cisco WebEx is required, which RCBC students have free and full access to through the RCBC OneLogin portal.

The event will start with an introduction explaining the purpose of the showing and a brief overview of the film, then the movie will be streamed online, which will take about two hours, and finally there will be a discussion of major themes and lessons from the film at the end. English subtitles will be provided on-screen for the entire movie.
