Advising for Current and Returning Students

Most students have an assigned advisor, who is your direct connection to support you in your academic journey at RCBC. For urgent or time-sensitive questions, walk-in services are also available.

Making an appointment with your assigned advisor

Sign into BaronOne and view the Advisors Card to see your assigned advisor/s information.

Check your RCBC email for information from your advisor about setting up an appointment or email your advisor to an appointment link.

Students without an assigned advisor

If you do not have an advisor, please use our walk-in services. You can meet with an advisor virtually or in-person. Please view our hours of operation for walk-in services..

Returning students are students who took a semester or more off at RCBC and are now returning for courses. Returning students are generally assigned an advisor 4-6 weeks after registering for the upcoming term

When to use walk-in vs an appointment

Advising Walk-in Meeting

  • Best for students without an assigned advisor or with a time-sensitive issue
  • No appointment needed. First come, first-serve during scheduled operating hours
  • 15-minute meeting potentially without your caseload advisor, in-person or virtual
  • Questions should cover current or next semester only
  • Registration-related questions when close to deadline (withdrawal, course approvals, drop, add, etc.)

Advising Appointment with your Assigned Advisor

  • Best for students with topics that may be a longer conversation and for concerns that are not time-sensitive
  • Planning for next semester and beyond; building out a full plan in self-service towards graduation and future goals
  • Advising on  transfer plans and planning your academic schedule towards future careers
  • Considering a new major, change of major, or deciding between majors
  • Discussing academic challenges/difficulty in a class
  • Reviewing prerequisites, 3rd or 4th attempts, overload approval or withdrawing.

**Appointments are unavailable during peak registration from August through the second week of fall term and in January through the second week of the spring term.
