Ekene Okechukwu, a determined man from Nigeria, has always been passionate about healthcare and photography. He is a nursing student at Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC), consistently striving to expand his knowledge. His dedication to his studies and hobbies reflects his desire to make a difference in the world through his work in healthcare and art.

Okechukwu moved to the United States to reunite with his family, based in Las Vegas. However, he found the scorching desert heat too similar to the weather he experienced in his home country. Wanting to experience the four seasons and moved to New Jersey, where some of his family members lived. He searched for affordable schools in the area. He contacted the international advisor at RCBC to learn about the resources, facilities and support services available to international students.

Before enrolling at RCBC, Okechukwu had already shown a deep desire to help those in need. His passion for making a difference in people’s lives led him to pursue a degree in nursing. He believed this field would allow him to provide valuable assistance during times of difficulty. Through his studies, Okechukwu has gained a profound understanding of how to care for patients, manage their medical needs and offer comfort and support to those struggling.

In addition to his love for healthcare, Okechukwu has a passion for photography. He believes that the art of capturing moments can bring people together and tell a unique story.

Aside from his academics and hobbies, Okechukwu is a highly involved individual who dedicates his time and effort as a peer mentor. He aims to foster a connection with current and incoming students to ensure they are well-guided in their academic and social journey. He recognizes the valuable support he received as an incoming student and wants to provide similar guidance to others exploring RCBC.

Okechukwu’s unwavering dedication to his studies, hobbies, and helping others has made him a model student and peer mentor. He advises others to keep believing in their story and themselves, believing this is the only way to succeed.
