Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) will host its annual Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Community Event on Saturday, June 7, from 11 am to 3 pm at the college’s Health Sciences Center at 1000 Briggs Road in Mount Laurel.
Whether you’re considering a healthcare career, want to learn to stay healthy and safe, or are simply looking for a fun way to spend the day, this EMS event offers many free, exciting, and informative opportunities for the whole family.
“Rowan College at Burlington County is proud to host this event and celebrate the heroic work that paramedics and EMTs do in our communities every day to keep us safe and healthy,” said RCBC President Dr. Michael A. Cioce. “As home to the region’s premier training program for paramedic science, Rowan College at Burlington County welcomes the community to join us in championing these critical first responders.”
The day of discovery, safety, and fun features helicopter flyovers and the opportunity to explore emergency vehicles and equipment. The community can also receive free health screenings, including blood pressure and vital sign checks by RCBC’s health sciences students, child car seat safety checks, a vehicle extrication demo, and an interactive simulation lab showcasing RCBC’s EMS programs for attendees interested in the college.
“This event brings our community and its heroes together in a fun, educational environment,” said RCBC Assistant Director of Paramedic Science Steve Reustle. “From learning how to save lives to enjoying great food and entertainment, there’s truly something here for everyone.”
Free continuing education classes sponsored by Cooper University Healthcare will be offered throughout the day in the Health Sciences building, exclusively for first responders. One class of the day, ‘Stop the Bleed,’ is open to all community members as part of a national campaign to encourage bystanders to help control life-threatening bleeding in an emergency while professional help arrives.
Attendees can also enjoy free giveaways throughout the day and a variety of food trucks.
