ENGLISH  FOR  TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

We are offering a TOEFL Preparation Course, which is designed to help students acquire the skills and confidence necessary to get a high TOEFL score. The class concentrates on the four areas of the TOEFL test: listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as test-taking skills and strategies.

The English as a Second Language program at Rowan College at Burlington County offers non-native speakers of English the opportunity to improve their language skills, to prepare them for college-level courses and to help them adjust to a new culture. RCBC’s program addresses three areas: language acquisition, academic success and cultural adjustment.

In the area of language acquisition, the goal of the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program is to provide students with the opportunity to develop communication and academic skills in reading, writing and speaking. Therefore, students will have the same opportunity to be successful within the academic mainstream classroom and attain the academic success as their native English-speaking peers.

The program will assist the students through their cultural adjustment by helping them develop an understanding of American culture. At the same time, the students will be encouraged to share their cultural backgrounds and realize the importance of their role in a multicultural society.

The program offers three levels in three focus areas:

  • writing and grammar
  • reading and vocabulary
  • speech and pronunciation

All levels are offered at the same time so that students can move from level to level without disrupting their schedules.

The program also offers English for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language).
