Dr. Taziah Kenney
Dr. Kenney serves as the Associate Dean of STEM at Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC). In collaboration with the Dean of STEM, she provides strategic leadership for the College's STEM division by advancing innovative academic programs, cultivating industry and community partnerships, and expanding opportunities that promote student success, workforce readiness, and academic excellence.
At the heart of Dr. Kenney's work is a passion for fostering student belonging and satisfaction across STEM disciplines. She believes that every student should feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to achieve their goals. This philosophy guides her leadership as she works alongside faculty and staff to create inclusive learning environments, strengthen student engagement, and remove barriers to success.
Dr. Kenney is equally passionate about cultivating a love of research and scholarship among students. She believes that engaging in research develops critical thinking, confidence, and curiosity while preparing students to become leaders in their fields. She actively mentors students whenever possible, encouraging them to pursue undergraduate research, experiential learning opportunities, and academic and professional growth.
In addition to her administrative leadership, Dr. Kenney continues to teach Anatomy and Physiology and other advanced biology courses, allowing her to remain connected to the classroom and the student experience. Her scholarly interests have evolved from studying concussion, genetics, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to examining student belonging, experiential learning, and persistence in higher education, with a particular focus on community college students.
Dr. Kenney earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Temple University, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership from Widener University. Through her leadership, teaching, research, and mentorship, she is committed to advancing innovative STEM education while empowering students, supporting faculty, and strengthening pathways to student success.
