Bored between classes? You don’t have to be. There’s always something to do at Rowan College at Burlington County. Events to attend, academic resources to utilize, and places to hang out abound. Check out this handy list of educational and recreational activities, some brand new to campus this semester, accessible to you as a Baron in your first week alone!
Volleyball court + outdoor rec
How’s your serve? Whether it’s Olympic-worthy or needs polishing, show it off at the newly installed beach volleyball court! Dug into soft, fine sand outside the Student Success Center, a sturdy, towering net is up and running for every student to use. Feel free to unwind with a casual game or get in the zone with a competitive showdown. Or just spectate! All you have to do is visit the Student Life desk located in the SSC and sign out a volleyball.
Barry’s Bites - new cafeteria
If you’re craving breakfast or lunch, and where to eat at you don’t have a hunch, don’t go to class without first taking a munch - come and get your appetite right at the new and exciting Barry’s Bites! Our fresh, on-campus cafe has everything your stomach grumbles for, from hot drinks to cold and crisp salads to dishes thrown right down on the grill. While you eat, mingle with other cafe-goers, or get homework done, then tackle your next class with vigor.
RecWell
Grab your sneakers, sweatbands, and water bottles; a new, dedicated spot to achieve all your fitness goals has arrived on campus. The state-of-the-art RecWell features all kinds of equipment, such as treadmills, dumbbells, and stationary bikes, to conquer both cardio and strength days. Located right in the Student Success Center across from Student Life on the first floor, the center is a convenient spot for busy students who might not want to go to another gym to work out after class. Plus, you can forget those pricey gym memberships; entry is free! All you need is your student ID – which you’ll need this semester to get into most buildings as part of Barons Pass.
Veterans Center
Did you know the Veterans Center moved? It has a new home inside the Student Success Center, next to the RecWell. Behind the big glass doors, students who are veterans can rest and recharge by studying, eating lunch, having a hot cup of coffee, or relaxing on the sofa and watching television. Military Education and Veterans Services staff will be nearby if you need military or on-campus resources or financial advice.
Tutoring
Two new tutoring locations have opened up on the Mount Laurel campus! There’s one in Laurel Hall - 323 for guidance with humanities and writing courses and one in TEC - 137 for science and mathematics courses. Hit the books with help; our enthusiastic tutors can walk you through writing a paper, studying for an exam, or doing homework. Schedule an appointment through your BaronOne account, call the tutoring center, or walk in. Part-time employment opportunities are also available if you want to take others under your tutelage instead!
