Congratulations on your conditional acceptance into the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program of Rowan College at Burlington County beginning Spring 2025! Please read this webpage in its entirety in order to understand the conditions of your acceptance as well as the steps to take to reserve your spot in the program.
Terms of Conditional Acceptance
Your acceptance is conditional based on the following:
- Completion with a C or better in all Fall and Winter intersession 2024-25 (as registered at the time of your acceptance) courses. If you receive less than a C in any course your admission will be rescinded. Additionally, if you withdraw or stop attending any required non-nursing program course your admission will also be rescinded.
- Completion of ordering the background check by no later than October 15, 2024 via Adam Safeguard (see directions under “Compliance Requirements” below). Students are required to have clear results. Any charge showing on your background screen, regardless of degree or type, would be cause for your admission to be rescinded. Please note, this is an agency requirement and a condition requiring notification to you by the State Board of Nursing.
- Completion of ordering the drug screen no later than October 15, 2024 via Adam Safeguard (see under Compliance Requirements below).Students are required to have clear results. Again, as required by the clinical agencies. Any positive result on your drug screen, including Cannabis, THC, (Marijuana) is cause for your admission to be rescinded. Please note: Even though Marijuana is locally legal, it is a substance that can impair judgment. As compared to alcohol, which is also legal, it impairs judgment and you cannot attend clinical with any substance in your system that may impair your judgment and cause harm to a patient.
- Completion of all health requirements: physical exam, immunizations (including flu and COVID vaccine), titers (all listed titers must be completed), 2 step PPD or Quantiferon Gold blood test, and ability to meet the technical standards listed in the Nursing Student Handbook pg.29 no later than December 15, 2024 (NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN) via Adam Safeguard/SentryMD (see under Compliance Requirements below)
- Completion of CPR-BLS (Healthcare Professional) Certification-BLS from the American Heart Association must be completed by December 15, 2024 (NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN) . Please note: this is the ONLY CPR certification we will accept. The certification must have been conducted in a face to face course. Online certifications are not accepted. (see under Compliance Requirements below). For assistance in finding a course, please go to https://cpr.heart.org/en/course-catalog-search and put in the search engine at the bottom of the page under “I need help finding the right course” Healthcare professional, BLS and Classroom
- Must be at least 18 years or older by the start of Spring 2025 term.
Confirmation of Acceptance
Your confirmation of acceptance to the program must be received by October 15, 2024. If we do not receive confirmation of acceptance by October 15th your place in the Spring 2025 class will be forfeited. You may reapply to the program at a later time. We offer a day or combined evening/weekend program (note, you are never guaranteed all evening or all weekend days for this program. It is dependent on our clinical agency availability). All nursing theory courses in the evening /weekend program start during the week at 6pm or later. Clinicals can be 6pm to midnight during the week or weekend 7am-2pm in the evening/weekend program. First semester lab courses may be split into two evenings, three hours per evening. All of our classes and clinicals for the AAS program are in person. Some 300 level courses for the BSN are online. There is no guarantee in the evening/weekend program as to when your clinical will occur in different courses. Please select your preference by indicating it on the acceptance form. We have limited space in the evening/weekend program, and students will be added to the list in the order their acceptance is received until spaces are filled. Students may not switch back and forth between the programs, nor can they be combined.

Mandatory Orientations
All students are required to attend two orientation sessions. One to discuss program requirements (to be determined), and a second orientation to the program in August (day and time TBD) with the program director and faculty.
Details on the orientation dates/times will be forthcoming.
Compliance Requirements
We have partnered with Adam Safeguard in collaboration with SentryMD to provide a secure platform for students to order and submit their clearance requirements. SentryMD will review all documents to ensure compliance. Background checks can take up to eight weeks, and some health requirements have steps that can take a few months to complete. Start this process promptly. Eligibility for placement in clinical facilities is a requirement of admission and enrollment in Health Science Division programs, specifically in relation to the nursing program: NJAC 13:37-1.8 (h) “Before an individual is admitted to a nursing education program, the program shall inform the individual that a criminal history background check is prerequisite for a licensure as a registered professional nurse”. As mentioned previously, any student with a positive background check will have their admission rescinded. Applicants are encouraged to seek legal consultation for possible expungement of charges, if possible. As this takes a significant amount of time, any student who states they are in process of expunging a background record will have their admission rescinded until the time their background is clear. The student must reapply to the program at a later start time. It is best if students begin this process prior to applying to the program if they have any known charges.
In addition, you will need to complete a Health Care Compliance course online provided by Adam Safeguard. This course contains online modules that explain healthcare regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). These modules are part of your paid subscription to SentryMD and you will receive a separate email from the company with the link to access the modules (check your spam folder if you don’t receive the link within two business days after you pay your subscription).
A note about your drug screen: please do not drink too much water before your drug screen appointment as it may result in a diluted result. Diluted results are not accepted and you will need to purchase a new drug screening to complete the test a second time.
Health requirements must include recent titers (blood work) which check the amount of antibodies in your blood to certain communicable diseases. This is a requirement and all students must have titers completed without exceptions. For questions about the health requirements please see the Nursing Student Handbook for requirements.
All students must submit the “Acknowledgement page” from the student handbook, after they have read the Nursing Student Handbook, no later than December 15, 2024. The Student Handbook is revised yearly, and this form will expire every August 15.
