Behind the Baron

Behind the Baron Student Model Series: Keyirrah Wilson and Luisavel Martinez

Last summer, twelve Rowan College at Burlington County students signed up to become student models for the college. Over a few weeks, they participated in several photoshoots both in the studio and around the campus and became the face of the college and its brand. You’ll see their faces all over campus, on benches, posters, banners, and flyers, and they even pop up on the promotional video on the college website’s homepage.

Returning RCBC student conquers her biggest foe—math

When student Kira Kaviani attended Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) for the first time, the institution went by a different name– Burlington County College. Like the college, Kaviani was different then than now, too; instead of computer science, which she studies now, she majored in photography.

The returning student fondly recalls her time as a photography student as someone with a strong interest in photography, but it wasn’t the career path she was destined to pursue.

With support and grit, RCBC grad overcomes early struggles with learning disability

It was obvious Rowan College at Burlington County student Blaise LaFleur was affected by a disability as early as two years old when he didn’t acquire speech like babies tend to do at that age. LaFleur’s mother, RCBC’s Director of Paramedic Sciences Andrea Quinn, said it took him until he was five years old to say his first words.

Reading and writing came slowly, too. While his auditory processing was high, he couldn’t read three- and four-letter sight words expected of him at his grade level.

Award-winning director and RCBC alum Mario Cerrito III is back with third installment of horror franchise, with some help from Barons

Filmmaker Mario Cerrito III had no plans for the silver screen at first. Originally from Salem County, Cerrito attended Rowan College at Burlington County in 2003 to play baseball and study criminal justice. It was after graduation when he entered construction that he found himself unhappy and picked up screenwriting instead.

RCBC graduate Claire Robbins turns challenges into achievements in the kitchen

Overactive and hyper as a child, Claire Robbins’ parents found it hard to get her to settle down. There was only one thing that got her attention—the Food Network.

“That was what inspired me to love cooking and start my journey in cooking,” said the Rowan College at Burlington County Culinary Arts graduate. “I just love the idea that there’s so many things you can do with food… that food can bring people together.”

Vaulted by the connections he made, RCBC graduate Emmanuel Lewechi earns co-valedictorian

Rowan College at Burlington County student Emmanuel Lewechi, an aspiring storyteller and screenwriter, didn’t know where to start at the beginning of his own college story. Admittedly apathetic about where to go and what to do for college, he decided the first step in the right direction was to get an associate degree at RCBC, majoring in communications.
