BRAVE
Brothers Achieving Excellence
Welcome to RCBC! You made it here and we want to support your college experience from now to graduation! We believe in the success of all our students and in the spirit of valuing our diverse student body, BRAVE provides strategies for adjusting to college life, and connections with college resources, peers, faculty, staff & administration of color.
We exist to empower male students of color with college readiness skills that help them excel as leaders in college and career.
Participants join a community where they gain a sense of belonging and positive guidance through the following (5) five supports:
1: BRAVE MEN OF COLOR SUMMER INSTITUTE:
Three-day college readiness experience for first-year male students of color at RCBC. Bond with peers, gain tangible resources for academic success, and participate in empowering sessions that equip you with tools for professional development and a deeper understanding of being a male student of color in higher education.
2: CAFE CONNECT with MARCUS WHITE
Mondays & Thursdays @ 10-11 AM & 3-4PM
This is a casual conversation where BRAVE students can ask a dedicated RCBC staff member, Marcus White, any questions they may have about college, life, study resources, upcoming BRAVE events, RCBC important deadline dates, etc.
3: BARBERSHOP TALKS
Safe spaces to discuss topics particular to men of color in college. Barbershop Talks focus on building brotherly bonds. Each month we discuss topics such as mental health, professionalism, financial literacy, networking skills, and leadership development.
