TD BANK Presents Rowan College at Burlington County Foundation's 2017 "Startup Stars" Competition
Do you have an original business idea? Would you like to win a cash prize for your business idea? Do you aspire to own your own company one day? You may be TD BANK’s future Startup Stars!
TD BANK's Startup Stars is a business plan competition for aspiring entrepreneurs and is open to the following two groups:
- RCBC Students
- Burlington County High School Students
There are two business plan award categories you can enter. Please develop and submit one of the two business plan models below:
- Business Plan Summary
- Business Model Canvas
To enter the competition, please register, click here. Please note: Your plan or concept must be an original, authentic, feasible business idea.
Business Plan Summary-Award Category
For the Business Plan Summary model, submit an executive summary of your business plan that outlines your business concept along with other required business plan components. Please use the Business plan summary template on this website along with the additional links that have been provided to help you prepare your plan.
Business Model Canvas-Award Category
We challenge students to use the Business Model Canvas (BMC), which uses Lean Startup methods to develop your business concept and plan. Resources are provided to help you develop and submit your BMC online. The Canvanizer.com website also has key information to help you develop your plan. Download a Business Model Canvas template on this website. Your completed Business Model Canvas may be no longer than two pages in length. Individuals or teams must submit a complete, high-quality BMC.
The Business Model Canvas consists of a one-page “roadmap” or chart designed to help entrepreneurs to “visually express your business model.” The BMC “allows you to describe, design, challenge, invent and pivot your business model” (Strategyzer, n.d.).

The business plan you develop must be based on a viable, authentic business idea- i.e., a business that could be developed. Business plans must be submitted online by 5 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2017.
The top two finalists from both student groups will compete for first, second and third place cash prizes and awards. Honorable mention prizes and awards will also be announced.
This event will be held on
Thursday, April 6, 2016 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Enterprise Center Auditorium
on the RCBC Mount Laurel campus.
Top finalists will have four (4) minutes to present their business summary to judges and the audience. The judges, who are business experts will have an opportunity to provide useful feedback and will ask questions about your business plan. The presentations may be supplemented by a slide deck (no more than 5 slides) or a demonstration.
THE AUDIENCE WILL VOTE— Audience members will have an opportunity to vote for one of the contest finalists!
