What is First Year Experience?
The First Year Experience (FYE101) course is designed to help students with the transition into college. During the seven-week course, students will have the opportunity to meet different staff and faculty members and develop skills to take with them throughout the rest of their education and into their careers.
What to Expect in FYE?
Attending college can be both stressful and exciting, and the FYE course is here to arm Barons with the tools they need during their first year of college and beyond.
FYE courses include:
- Small class sizes
- Note-taking and study skills
- Critical thinking exercises
- Group discussions and activities
- Peer connection
- Time management and goal-setting
- Communication and leadership skills
- Self-awareness and stress management techniques
How can FYE Help Students in the Classroom?
College requires certain skills that not all students have mastered. FYE teaches students how to refine their academic skill sets, specifically their note-taking, writing and study skills to help prepare them for college level courses.
- Earn 1 college credit
