The annual Startup Stars Entrepreneurship Competition is an opportunity for aspiring creators to test their product or service idea, get valuable market research, and constructive feedback.

Grand Prize -$2,000 value

The grand prize includes a $1,000 cash prize, and a customizable Small Business Toolkit gift card, valued at $1,000. 

Second Prize - $1000 value

The second prize a $500 cash prize, and a customizable Small Business Toolkit gift card, valued at $500. 

Third Prize - $500 value

The third prize includes a $250 cash prize, and a customizable Small Business Toolkit gift card, valued at $250.

This competition is open to RCBC students!

Any RCBC student active during the 2021-2022 academic year is eligible to enter this competition. This includes students who have taken RCBC credit and non-credit courses (including high school students), or Adult Basic Education classes.  


Submit an executive summary (DOC) of your business plan that outlines your business concept along with other required business plan components.  You may submit as an individual or as a group with no more than four team members.

Please use the executive summary (DOC) and Income Statement Template (XLS) to prepare your plan.   


Weekly one and a half hour  live workshops starting the week of Jun 13, 2022, on the following topics, are available for you to help develop your business plan.

Top finalists will have five minutes to present their business summary to judges and the audience, and five minutes to answer questions from the judges.  The presentations may be supplemented by a slide deck (with five to seven slides) or a demonstration. Presenters are expected to provide a sales pitch and forecast of financials, and be prepared to answer questions related to the written proposal. The judges, all business experts, will have an opportunity to provide useful feedback and ask questions about your business plan.

Finalists will compete for prizes and awards on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 6 pm in the Student Success Center.  This event is open to the general public.


Prior to the event, we will host a local Small Business Fair, from 2 pm - 5 pm, to showcase the existing entrepreneurial talent in the county and connect these leaders with the entrepreneurial creators of tomorrow.
