Women's Soccer Team Advances to Districts

The Burlington County College (BCC) women’s soccer team will advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) District E Tournament for a chance at Nationals and the men end their season on a high note as Garden State Athletic Conference Champions, a title which also belongs to the Lady Barons. 

On Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m., the BCC women’s soccer team will head to Monroe Community College to face Community College of Rhode Island in the NJCAA District E Tournament. The game will be held at the John L. DiMarco Field at Monroe Community College, 1000 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY, and streamed live online at www.ihigh.com/monroetribunes/. The winning team will play the victor of Monroe College (New Rochelle, NY) versus Monroe Community College (Rochester, NY) for a chance to advance to the National Championships, which will be held November 12-17 at Brevard Community College in Melbourne, FL. The Lady Barons, Region XIX Champions, are led by first-year head coach, Kathleen DeLitta, who was named Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) “Coach of the Year.”

Head coach for men’s soccer, Craig Dewar was also named GSAC “Coach of the Year.” The team ended the season as Region XIX runner-ups and for the second year in a row, the men were named one of the best teams in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

A recent announcement of the 2012 soccer players named to All Region XIX and All GSAC Teams revealed that BCC had several of their stand-out men and women soccer players make the teams. Haydn Cochrane, midfielder for BCC’s men’s soccer team, was chosen as one of the Top Five Players in Region XIX, in addition to being named to First Team All Region XIX.  Defender Jack Verth and midfielder Joshua Parades were also named to First Team All Region XIX.  Defender Justin Puglisi, midfielder Colton Elliot, and forward Iury Morales were named to Second Team All Region XIX. BCC players in the 2012 Men’s Soccer All GSAC First Team include Jack Verth, Haydn Cochrane, and Joshua Parades.

Susan Trezza, a midfielder for BCC’s women’s soccer, was picked as one of the Top Five Players in Region XIX and made First Team All Region XIX, along with defender Brittany Saucier. Second Team All Region XIX players from BCC’s women’s team include goalkeeper Julia Brown and midfielders Kaitlyn Atmore and Kelly MacIntosh. 2012 Women’s Soccer All GSAC First Team players include Brittany Saucier, Julia Brown, Kelly MacIntosh and Susan Trezza. Kaitlyn Atmore was named to the 2012 Women’s Soccer All GSAC Second Team.
