RCBC, Uber team up to offer student discount on uberPOOL rides between campuses
Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) students will be eligible for a discount on uberPOOL rides between RCBC campuses through an upcoming initiative aimed at making sure students can get safely and reliably to and from their classes.
“Our goal is to provide students a convenient and affordable way to get to class,” RCBC President Paul Drayton said. “This is more important than ever as we modernize the Mount Laurel Campus and transition out of Pemberton. Uber represents 21st century convenience and our partnership allows students a way to get to class without spending hours on a bus to travel between campuses that are 10 miles apart.”
“This partnership may also lead to work opportunities for students to earn an income while doing something they do every day – drive to class,” Drayton added.
Students will be eligible for a 50 percent discount on uberPOOL rides between four RCBC locations: Mount Laurel, Pemberton, Willingboro and Mount Holly. The rides must begin and end at one of these campuses. The discount will be available weekdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the spring pilot program that begins on March 1 and ends on May 15.

“By making it possible to get a ride in minutes, Uber’s technology can reduce transportation barriers on campus and across the Garden State,” said Craig Ewer, spokesperson for Uber New Jersey. “We’re proud to work with Rowan College at Burlington County and look forward to seeing the results of this initial pilot program.”
Burlington County Freeholder Linda Hughes, who serves as education liaison to the college and is a former RCBC trustee, noted the partnership will help more students access RCBC.
“This is an innovative solution to help students access the region’s premier college in the New Jersey’s largest geographic county,” Hughes said. “This will help more students to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities available to them at Rowan College at Burlington County.”
To qualify for the discount, students must link their RCBC email address with their Uber account and use the promotion code that will be sent to their college email address before March 1.
