Career Success Solutions for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Monthly Meetings

Burlington County College’s (BCC) Career Success Solutions for Deaf and Hard of Hearing will host free monthly professional network meetings at BCC’s Briggs Road Center, located on the Mount Laurel campus at 1000 Briggs Rd, Suite 120. Topics will range from the benefits of group support to knowing your ADA rights and responsibilities.

The employed, unemployed, underemployed, students, volunteers and their guests are all welcome to attend. Information on available support systems and coping strategies for the hard of hearing individual and their families, friends and colleagues will also be shared through monthly meetings. The meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The 2013 spring and summer meetings are listed below:

Tuesday, April 9: Judith Ginsberg from CaptionCall presents, “Why is Group Support Good for You?”

Tuesday, May 14: Traci Burton from Division of Deaf and Hard of Hearing presents, “All You Wanted to Know About DDHH, but Were Afraid to Ask.” The benefits of technology for hard of hearing will also be covered.

Tuesday, June 11: Lori Timney, NJ Relay and CapTel Outreach Specialist presents, “New Jersey Relay and CapTel.” Summer activities for hard of hearing individuals will also be covered.

Tuesday, July 9: Vicki Joy Sullivan from Career Success Solutions presents, “Mind, Body, and Soul: Well-Adjusted Hard of Hearing Individuals.”

Tuesday, August 13: “Self-Advocacy & Assertiveness: Knowing your ADA Rights and Responsibilities.”

Tuesday, September 10: “Success Stories of Hard of Hearing People.”

Captioning will be provided through the collaboration of several organizations including CSS, NJRelay, CaptionCall and New Jersey Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Additionally, assistive listening devices and sign language interpreting will be provided at each meeting. The yearly calendar of monthly support group meetings will be available to take home.
