Burlington County salutes military enlistees at RCBC

Our Community Salutes

Burlington County Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs is inviting the community to honor high school seniors who are enlisting in military service at a special ceremony at Rowan College at Burlington County’s Mount Laurel Campus on Wednesday, May 23.

Burlington County is holding its first Enlistee Recognition Ceremony in partnership with Our Community Salutes, an organization that helps communities recognize, honor and support high school seniors who plan to enlist in the U.S. Armed Services. A resource fair highlighting resources available to military members will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Votta Hall. The awards ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

“Burlington County is proud to be home to such a large population of military personnel,” said Burlington County Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs. “We are honored to host this ceremony and recognize the young men and women entering the military. I commend them for making the brave commitment to defend and serve our country.”

“Attending this ceremony is a very small act we can do to truly support the men and women who have pledged their commitment to our country and the freedom we all enjoy,” RCBC Acting President Michael Cioce said. “As a neighbor of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, we serve many military families and join with the community in saluting them. I encourage everyone to join us in recognizing these amazing individuals.”

This year, 41 high school seniors from Burlington County plan to enlist in the Air Force, Army, N.J. National Guard, Navy and Marine Corps. All have been invited to the ceremony.

The resource fair and awards ceremony are free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, contact June DePonte Sernak at (856) 291-3516 or jsernak@rcbc.edu.
