BCC Lamplight Players Perform "Rent"

The Burlington County College Lamplight Players return to the Geraldine Clinton Little Theater to perform Jonathan Larson’s famed musical “Rent,” April 17-19, and April 24 and 25.

“Rent,” is a Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award-winning rock musical loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La bohème. It tells the story of a group of bohemian artists at the start the 1990s, who are struggling to maintain their friendships and create a life in New York City’s East Village while coping with HIV/AIDS.

Performances on Fridays, April 17 and 24, and Saturdays, April 18 and 25, start at 7:30 p.m. A matinee performance is offered on Sunday, April 19 at 2 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online: bcc.edu/theatre/tickets. General admission is $12. BCC students can purchase discounted tickets for $7 through their WebAdvisor account. Tickets will also be sold at the door an hour before showtime.

All performances will be held in the Geraldine Clinton Little Theater, located at the Pemberton campus, 601 Pemberton Browns Mills Road, in the Lewis M. Parker Center.

The main cast of characters includes the following BCC theater students: Benjamin Kirvan as “Roger,” Even Newlin as “Mark,” Andrew Snellen as “Tom Collins,” James Lamb as “Benny,” Thomas Stanimirov as “Angel,” Diao Floyd as “Mimi,” Deborah Haynes as “Joanne,” and Drew Lynch as “Maureen.”

The supporting ensemble includes the following students: John Hager, Kimberly Horowitz, Lana Lamar, Cole Minnick, Ryan Powell, Kevin Roberts, and Anthony Vinci.

The musical was also made possible with support from Stage Manager Tyler Burrell, Music Director Pam Sharples, Choreographer Shaun Doyle and Director Patricia Cohill. It was produced through special arrangement with Music Theatre International
