Lunchtime Symposium: Access, Engage, Educate & Empower, Featuring Dr. Terrell Strayhorn

RCBC's Educational Opportunity Fund Program in collaboration with Student Life, Student Government Association, Chi Alpha Epsilon and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Societies, Athletics and NSLS  will present a lunchtime symposium: THRIVE! Access, Engage, Educate & Empower, featuring Dr. Terrell Strayhorn | TLS talks keys to student success on April 4 from 12:30 - 2 pm in the Votta Hall Auditorium.

Dr. Terrell Strayhorn, an internationally-recognized student success scholar, highly acclaimed public speaker and award-winning writer was recently on faculty at The Ohio State University where he served as Director of the Center for Higher Education Enterprise. He has given keynote lectures at more than 500 universities and conferences across the globe regarding keys to student success, sense of belonging on campus, grit, persistence, assessment of student outcomes, and strategies to broaden minority participation in STEM fields, just to name a few.  He uses stories and humor to challenge students to think critically about the role they play in a multicultural society and what it takes to navigate a college campus (and life). 

Professor Strayhorn has been named among the country’s top diversity scholars by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education in 2011, one of Business First “Top 40 under 40,” and one of the “Top 20 to Know in Education.” He attained his PhD in Higher Education from Virginia Tech and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.

The symposium is open to all RCBC students, faculty, staff, counselors and the RCBC college community.
