Dental Hygiene

Dental hygiene is an exciting and dynamic field for those interested in working with their heads, hearts and hands. Rowan College at Burlington County’s accredited program prepares students for a career as a Registered Dental Hygienist by combining classroom instruction with laboratory and clinical experience.

  • The dental hygiene profession is projected to grow 20% from now until 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations
  • The median annual wage for a dental hygienist is around $75,000
  • New Jersey ranks among the top 5 highest-paying states for dental hygienists, with an annual mean wage of $85,860
  • RCBC’s 2018 graduating class earned a 100% pass rate for licensing exams for all students who availed themselves of every opportunity to test. 
  • Research continues to link oral health to overall health, which means the demand for dental services will continue to increase

RCBC’s Dental Hygiene curriculum comprises two years, with a total of 75 credits. It is a rigorous and demanding program, both physically and academically, providing students with a knowledge base to integrate manual skills with the delivery of high-quality oral health care services.

At its July 31, 2014 meeting the Commission on Dental Accreditation adopted a resolution to continue the accreditation status of "approval without reporting requirements" for the dental hygiene program offered by the Rowan College at Burlington County.  We need to add that the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accerditation is the accrediting body for our program and they can be ccontacted by mail at 211 East Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60611 or by phone 1-800-621-8099, ext. 2718.
