Students enrolled in liberal arts programs learn to appreciate the richness of life, to fulfill community responsibilities, and to bring human values into their work experiences. RCBC offers open admissions programs leading to the Associate of Arts Degree (A.A.) as well as several certificate programs.

Division of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

STEM programs are designed to provide you with learning and critical thinking skills for a lifetime of academic and professional success in a wide variety of fields focusing on mathematics, and/or the sciences or specialized technologies. The Division offers open admissions programs leading to the Associate of Science degree, Associate of Applied Science Degree, Certificate and Special Certificate Programs.

Division of Health Sciences

The Division of Health Sciences offers four academic programs: Nursing, Health Information Technology, Radiography and Human Services. Human Services is an open admissions degree program. The other three programs, however, require additional entrance criteria. For more information on applying to these programs, interested applicants should also see the appropriate program's departmental web pages.

Types of Degrees/ Credit Certificates Offered

Associate of Arts (A.A.)
The Associate of Arts is a transfer degree designed to complete the first half of your baccalaureate or four-year liberal arts degree program. This degree offers you a broad, highly academic background in the fine arts, humanities and social sciences.

Associate of Science (A.S.)

The Associate of Science is a transfer degree designed to complete the first half of your baccalaureate or four-year degree program. It offers a program emphasizing course work in mathematics, science, business and the social sciences.

Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)

The Associate of Applied Science degree is not designed to be a transfer degree into a baccalaureate or four-year program. It does, however, provide excellent preparation if your goal is to enter a career field immediately upon graduation without further college-level studies. In most cases, if you should later decide to continue studies leading to a baccalaureate degree, only your general education credits will be useful for transfer. Carefully chosen technical institutions, whose curricula in specific study areas are nearly identical to those of Rowan College at Burlington County, may sometimes make exceptions to this policy.

Credit Certificate Programs (CRT)

Some career areas require less than two years of postsecondary education for entry into the field. RCBC's Certificate Programs for academic credit generally take on year to complete. Certificate programs include courses specifically related to current career requirements, as well as general education courses designed to help you better understand the world in which you live and work.

Special Certificate Programs (SPC)

These certificate programs of varying lengths provide a focused course of study for people entering or upgrading skills in particular career fields.
